I've been reading more of the JM book I talked about before (Winning by Losing). Here is an excerpt I liked:
"The past does not define you; your present does. Having a vision of the future affects your behavior now. The key here is to let your daily actions be governed by your game plan for a new you and to keep that game plan in the forefront of your mind by writing about it and letting it become real. There's no deadline. Just commit to the process and take it day by day".
- Jillian Michaels
I also liked this quote:
"Meditate on your daily goals every morning to give purpose to your day".
- Jillian Michaels
I think I am doing that by looking at or writing on my blog every morning. It gives me a chance to reflect on the day before and make goals for the day/week ahead. So far I think this blog has really helped me keep up the hard work. Not just the blog though, My Fitness Pal (MFP) and Jill and Ali have helped me to stay on track as well. I also think (hope) I am getting better at motivating myself too!
JM book also talked about another few good points I'd like to touch on really quick. There is a chapter on recognizing emotional triggers and it tells you how to recognize/deal with/avoid emotional eating. I don't feel this is a particular problem for myself however I know it is a problem for some of my friends and many others out there.
There was also a section of the book I liked that talked about setting mini goals. This breaks down the bigger picture into more realistic intervals. So instead of just saying, "I want to lose 30 lbs", I can set smaller goals on my way to that such as "I want to lose 5 lbs by mid-September"... or something like that. I like this idea because it makes the whole process less overwhelming and your goals seems more obtainable. Then once you reach your mini goal - you set another until soon enough you have reached your final destination.
This week it is just Jill and I because Ali is in Disney (SO JEALOUS!). Yesterday Jill and I did a 30 min JM video and then after that went right outside and did about 1.1 miles without stopping. I was nervous for the jog because I was already tired and sweating from the video and because of that I was scared I'd be too tired to finish, but I wasn't. It feels good to accomplish things you thought were going to be too hard. It gave me confidence that I can go even further so I am going to talk to Jill today about when we'd like to increase our run a tiny bit. Today the plan is to do a different JM video then run again, and I know I can do it!
Lastly, check out this success story I just found on the MFP forum:

She said all she used for the past 10 months were JM workouts!!!
