Anyways, my sorority president sends out a quote each day and this was yesterday's:
"You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do."
- Eleanor Roosevelt
That immediately made me thing about the mud run. When I was thinking about doing it/trying to convince Ali to do it with me, we both thought it was something pretty scary (and still kind of do). We had little confidence we could do it and almost didn't sign up at all. But now I have a WHOLE new attitude and this quote is so right. We are going to face something in a few weeks that we originally feared and didn't want to do. And what will we gain when we finish the event? Strength, courage, and confidence! I can't wait to do it and feel all those wonderful things!
I was looking back at a link I posted earlier in the month about women who lost a lot of weight and advice they had for others and this was what one of them had to say:
"Stop making excuses! In order to change your life, you have to change your habits, which means fully committing to a new healthy lifestyle."I was looking back at a link I posted earlier in the month about women who lost a lot of weight and advice they had for others and this was what one of them had to say:
I also agree with this and feel it is something I need to work on more. There is NO WAY I can keep doing what I'm doing/eating what I'm eating/living how I'm living and expect things to change. So far I have changed A LOT about my lifestyle but I think I still have a ways to go. When I saw this quote I thought about my friend who LOVES to drink and constantly asks me to drink with her. I can't keep living like a 'normal' (well, what is normal anyways??? - but you get the idea) college student. Drinking every weekend all weekend, getting no sleep, etc. Don't people know a shot of standard rum/vodka is about 100 calories? And let's say six shots gets you to where you wanna be... that's 600 cals... UMM NO THANK YOU I CAN DO WITHOUT. I don't love drinking that much that I'm willing to spend half a days worth of calories on it every weekend. I love eating more so I'd rather get the calories from food! That way I'm at least getting some nutrition. Not saying I'm done with drinking - because as JM says "A healthy lifestyle does not have to be limited in any way" but "it's just a matter of being conscious and careful of how often and how much". Also, I am DEF willing to sacrifice going out at much this year and really focus on getting in shape so that next year, my SENIOR year, I can have all the fun I want and not have to worry about losing mega pounds, and just focus on maintaining my new sexy body!
Lastly - because I am a sucker for success stories and love them (they keep me motivated!) - here is one I came across last night:
UGH I SOOO HOPE ONE DAY I CAN POST A MESSAGE/PICS ON THE MFP FORUM TELLING EVERYONE HOW I LOST 30-35 POUNDS!!!
